The room was comfortable, very clean and plenty of room. I liked that we chose our breakfast time and menu the night before and breakfast came quickly and was nice and fresh. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Limes Guest house was in a convenient location - under 10 mins walking from Montrose train station. I was greeted by a lovely owner, Jen who was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and helped to ensure I had an enjoyable stay throughout my time in town. Having stayed at the chain hotel a few nights before and breakfast being pretty average - I was genuinely surprised with the amazing breakfast standard Jen has offered - make sure you'll order yours, will not regret it!

We stayed there as our son and partner where attending a wedding in Montrose we used it as a base , 20 mins from Arbroath lovely Cushing town selling the famous smokie everywhere, history in the lighthouse signal museum was good. We then travelled to Broughty Ferry, lovely promenade to walk all along, little boutique shops, castle, plenty restaurants and fish and chip shop

Kristy (I believe that was our hostess’s name) was absolutely lovely and so gracious. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed so comfortable. breakfast was cooked to order and so reasonable. the property itself is so beautiful, and very homey — not like a museum. The gardens outside are so pretty and there’s a little reading/relaxing sunroom in it, for guests. Montrose is a “real” town, not a tourist town, but it is close to much to do!
I was in Montrose to see a very good friend whom have known since late 60s, when we served together in the Far East. My reason for visiting was to say goodbye to him as he is dying. It would be our last meeting, the next time I come to Montrose will be for his final farewell. Therefore, anything and everything about my stay is irrelevent
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and always available. The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were very modern and attractive, whilst the public areas of the hotel were charmingly traditional. The beach was just across a short area of the golf links. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
Lovely and friendly little hotel in the heart of Montrose. Jen was super welcoming! I only booked a room for the day before my sleeper train, but wish I had more time in Montrose staying at the Limes. Felt very at home there and Jen even offered to make me sandwiches for my train. Would love to come back someday!
The room at check in was clean, and spacious . We were unable to connect to the Wi-Fi , the restaurant was full as was the hotel so I guess there were too many people connected at once , by Sunday when there were less people we both connected automatically
Full British breakfast is served every day, It could do with some variety if you stay longer but plenty of options around the corner (Gregs, SubWay), cereals and jam for kids.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, what was most important for us dog-friendly hotel!
The breakfast was excellent. If you stay at the hotel then you get a discount off the green fees at Montrose Links course. The hotel owner made us aware of this during our stay. Our room was nice, but there are rooms that overlook the golf course too.
The staff at The Grey Harlings Hotel are exceptionally welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. I look forward to returning next year. Fantastic room overlooking the golf course and a short walk to the beautiful Montrose beach.
Absolutely tremendous. Immaculate property, the photos online don't do it justice. Would definitely return
We visited upper dystart larder, brechin Castle, domatter Castle, Montrose, Charleton farm, air museum and pleasure land
This property is a little gem in the centre of Montrose. It was spacious and comfortable and had all the amenities for a self-catering cottage. Would definitely consider a return visit.
Fabulous hotel, lovely to have a bed and bowls for my four-legged companion.
The restaurant was excellent and the portion sizes were amazing.
Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Liked the hotel was close to center of town. Breakfast not up to our expectations. However, dinner was excellent. Our waitress was amazing. She was very friendly and helpful.
Welcoming, friendly, accommodating and generous. Very comfortable room, and excellent breakfast. Would go to montrose just for a stay at the hermitage.
